Do you have YOUR plan this holiday?

So now that it’s officially the “holiday season” you may be panicking about or have already started to slip into an abyss of early holiday cheer, parties, and indulgences. Whether you’re expecting or a new mom it can be really hard to maintain some discipline and routine over the holidays.

We’ve all done it and have suffered the consequences when we step on the scale after the New Year and “freak out” that we could actually gain that much in such a short time! But really, what did you expect; a miracle?? How many indulgences, nibblies and deserts did you think you could get away with before your body had had enough and started packing on the pounds? Sound familiar?

So why not try something out of the box this year and actually make a plan to not necessarily lose weight over the holidays (because that would be really hard!), but instead maintain what you have already worked so hard for? I mean really, if you can’t at least use the same determination you used to get to where you are now, just to let it all go to waste, then what’s the point? Look at it this way, if you can manage through the next three weeks or so within 1-3 lbs (max) of what you are right now, that’s HUGE (you’re not huge – just your discipline).

Personally, I have all my social engagements already marked in my calendar at home and in my personal day timer. I also have all my gym days and times marked down as well (in pen!). This way, even if something tries to come up, it’s a mental game of “should I/shouldn’t I?” as it looks pretty bad scratching something out that was permanently marked down, just to likely go do something else that’s going to sabotage my success.

So what will you do? Make a plan for success or a plan for possible failure? Whatever it is, just imagine now how you will feel with the end result.
