Product Review: Dream Swaddle and Substance Nipple Cream from ECO BEBE BOUTIQUE

Bringing baby home for the first time was exciting. But realizing that he is now our full responsibility was a bit scary. Our minds raced as we tried to retrieve the tips and tricks the nurses have taught us at the hospital. Situation number 1: how do you swaddle the baby again?

Luckily, I had the DreamSwaddle, $39.95 CND handy. Unlike regular receiving blankets, this compact piece is ready-to-use. The DreamSwaddle is made from 100% cotton. It is stretchy yet cozy. It provides baby with a secure fit. The double zippers allow for top and bottom opening. Baby is less fussy when he is not exposed to cold air. This quick and easy swaddle is ideal for sleep-deprived parents who are too tired to measure angles and fold corners on receiving blankets. With the DreamSwaddle, wrapping baby up is a snap.

With the swaddling situation under control, let’s tackle the next problem – cracked nipples. Yes, “ouch!” is right. But what can you do?

Like a rite of passage for all new moms, cracked nipples are a real pain, literally. Substance Nipple Cream, $11.99 CND is a lifesaver. It provided immediate relief and healed the skin in a couple of days. Baby has since latched on properly. I am proud to say that cracked nipples are a thing of the past. The Substance cream however, is still put to good use. Because this cream is petroleum-free, vegan-friendly and made from edible ingredients, I am comfortable with using it on baby’s delicate skin. Olive oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, beeswax and marshmallow root are some of its key ingredients.

After baby’s bath, I would massage this cream onto baby’s hands and feet. I preferred having this on his hands because if ingested, I know it is not harmful. Sometimes, I would also dab a bit of this onto baby’s chapped forehead. It is gentle yet effective. I would highly recommend this multipurpose cream to all new moms. A little goes a long way.
