Finding a Paediatrician

My Ob-Gyn has advised me to find a paediatrician before Baby’s arrival. She had provided me a list of doctors who are accepting patients. A lot of them seemed new. I wanted someone with a few years of experience under their belt.

If you are an Ontario resident like me, you will be familiar with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario website. Here, you can type in which type of doctor you are looking for and narrow it down to the one that is in your area. There is another less official website called RateMD that I like to cross-reference when finding doctors. It rates doctors according to patient satisfaction. I find this sort of first-hand experience invaluable. It’s hard to pick a doctor randomly but if you can read the testimonials of their patients, it really helps to give you a better picture of who you are dealing with. This was how I found my wonderful Ob-Gyn. She truly is as good as they had rated her on the website. All I can say is that I am so glad I had done my homework.

For fun, you may want to check what other patients have said about your family doctor, Ob-Gyn, paediatrician or dentist. Are the opinions right on the money? Give your two cents. Maybe you will be pleasantly surprised to find out that you’ve already landed yourself with a top rated MD.
