10 Things I Miss about Pre-Pregnancy

As I approach closer to the finish line, I am flooded with mixed feeling of sadness and joy. While I really enjoyed being pregnant, I think I’ll be glad to be able to resume some of my pre-pregnancy activities after Baby has arrived.

Here is my list of top 10 things that I will look forward to doing again:

1) Sleeping on my back

I like sleeping on my sides but it’ll be nice to finally be able to have one more option now.

2) Having the occasional alcoholic drink

Weddings and parties aren’t the same without some bubbly.

3) Eating sushi

Maybe it’s the idea of the forbidden fruit. I’m craving for it more than ever. White tuna and salmon sashimi - we shall be reunited very soon.

4) Wearing contacts

Watery eyes gave me blurred vision. Glasses gave me better visibility but I still prefer the convenience and look of my contacts.

5) Drinking tea

Nothing soothes and relaxes me like a hot cup of Japanese Green Tea with Roasted Rice (aka Genmaicha). After reading that green tea hinders the absorption of folic acid, I had cut that out of my diet. Along with that, I had also steered clear of herbal teas and caffeinated black teas. I must admit, that was hard for me. I was never a coffee drinker but I did love my teas. I certainly look forward to enjoying them again.

6) Eating pineapple

Pineapple juice is said to cause uterine contractions which can cause miscarriages. To be on the safe side, I stayed away from it.

7) Having manicures/pedicures/hair coloured

Is it so wrong to be vain? Looking good = feeling good!

8) Shopping

My shopping habits changed when I became pregnant. For one, if I had time to go shopping, I’d much rather shop for baby items. And secondly, I didn’t want to invest in expensive pieces, knowing that my body is constantly changing still.

9) Gaining full mobility back

The lack of energy and mobility due to pregnancy really took me by surprise. At nine months pregnant, I will try to plan out my moves to maximize the conservation of energy. Never was I so irritated with having to stand on on the bus but when you’re pregnant, you really need that seat!

10) Heels

Need I say more? We all love to dress up and strut our stuff. Flats and walking shoes just don’t cut it. I look forward to wearing nice shoes and saying goodbye to my swollen ankles.
